What is Insight Meditation?

Insight meditation, or vipassana, is an ancient Buddhist practice for seeing clearly into the nature of our minds and the world around us. Through wise attention and deep self-exploration in meditation we gain insight into the world as it really is, and develop a stable foundation of peace and mental clarity from which we can act in a more skillful, deliberate manner.

Our Mission

Souhegan Insight Meditation is dedicated to teaching meditation in the Insight tradition. We are a supportive community seeking to bring mindfulness into everyday life. We offer simple tools to  improve quality of life, calm the mind, and sharpen attention. All are welcome.

Advisory Board

Judy Seelye is a former nursery school teacher now retired. She has lived in New Hampshire for the past 35 years. Judy is married and has raised three children and four grandchildren. She enjoys walking, quilting, and gardening. She is also a Reiki practitioner of many years, and volunteers at Monadnock Hospital’s Reiki Clinic in Peterborough. She has had a regular daily meditation practice for the past 11 years and has found great value in attending meditation retreats when she can. Meditation has become an integral part of her life, which has clearly helped, off the cushion, in dealing with the stresses and joys of life as they come.
